I was reading the book as I was watching the series. The book and the series diverge quite a bit. And I must honestly say, the screenplay and onscreen writing are much more taut.
The book ambles along - never hooks you in. Writing is great, but you never fully feel the dystopia - as in you never take a recoil.
So the plot's inner conscience is lost somewhere. Maybe the Hindi version pulls the punches, and bloody blimey, I cannot read or comprehend Hindi as well as I do with English.
Overall a good read.
On a scale of 10, this is a 7.
