Ever heard a jet engine roar in the sky….the sound is always at a lag to the actual perceived location of the plane. Its exactly the same with babies….their actions and attributes associated with crying precede the actual sound. There is a perceptible 1-2 second delay before the actual “glass breaking” shriek hits town. By then, if you have been observing the baby, he is already deep into the “hell freezes over” mode :-)
