Have been watching a few babies in my life recently. While burping (post feeding them you need to burp them, as a standard process) new babies, you make them sit upright, hold their neck by the scruff of your hand…and them pat them on their back.
Most babies appear blissful and almost smiling at this point…and to the point that the person doing it is almost incidental….its does not necessarily have to be their mom/dad.
If you think about it…this is the best definition of unconditional “trust”….imagine any adult “smiling” when their neck is in the scruff of another hand.
